Chris Benoit... a name that evoked nothing but respect and awesomeness from his fans, his peers, his family, and those of us who knew him and even those that didn't.
he started out just like any other fan, idolizing a particular wrestler (namely, the Dynamite Kid) and that was his inspiration to achieve all the things that he accomplished in his 22 years as a professional wrestler.
along the way, he managed to tag along a slim, but select group of fellow human beings that shared his passion... ones he truly could call "friends"
Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Chris Irving (Jericho) and Dean Malenko
they went through hell and heaven and back going from stampede, to new japan pro wrestling, back to ECW, WCW, and finally reaching the major leagues in WWF/WWE... out of those 4, 3 reached that pinnacle which seemed impossible, as everyone told them "you are too short, you are not Gringo, you are not that good, you will never make it!"... april 4, 2005 proved all the critics wrong:
Chris and Eddie, the world heavyweight champions of their respective WWE Roster, embrace moments after he and Chris FINALLY made the impossible possible, with Eddie beating Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit being the ONLY person in this business to win the WrestleMania main event by submission by beating the then champion HHH (something that has never been done again). this is probably the last true WrestleMania moment, if not for the next couple of decades at the very least. no scripting, no acting, just 2 brothers reaching their dream of a lifetime the same day....
then, on november 2005, tragedy strikes us....
Eddie leaves us as he passes away the very day he was scheduled to win his second world title, and up to this day, it still feels like a bad bad joke, and i swore it was a bad joke, until we saw this on TV.
Benoit, a man that never has shown his feelings in public, hard as a rock, succumbing to the pain of losing of one of the most beloving human beings to ever cross paths in his life.
Thankfully, Eddie's death was peaceful (before becoming a born again christian in the early 2000's, Eddie was a heavy drug user, which damaged his cardiovascular system on the long term, causing him to develop a sudden heart attack while he was brushing his teeth. according to reports, his autopsy revealed that he just felt asleep while brushing his teeth, no suffering, no pain...), his death was indeed untimely, and it became something that strengthen his friends to work hard in his name
now.... the same can't be said about Chris's passing. according to preliminary reports, it's been said that investigators believe Chris murdered his wife on saturday, his son on sunday, and himself on monday afternoon. i call this BULLSHIT! if there's something Chris loved more than wrestling, that was his family. he was wrestling over the week on his scheduled house shows, when he called his home on friday, only to be told by his son that he and his mommy were coughing up blood, so he decides to rush from the other side of the country (texas, namely) and rush to his house. police suspect nancy died on saturday, his son daniel on monday, and he died monday afternoon.
as i write this, it has been said that he strangled his wife, smothered his son, and finally hanged himself up on monday. i'm at a true loss of words... i can't find logic to this statements and.... i don't know what to think anymore.
